Politics Undergrad Conference

The First UK Politics/International Relations Undergraduate Research Conference

The First UK Politics/International Relations Undergraduate Research Conference took place on 2nd April at De Montfort University, Leicester. 16 students from 9 different universities gave presentations based upon research they had undertaken as part of their degrees, mainly their dissertations. Topics ranged from an evaluation of the work of Bernard Stiegler through a study of the global regulation of conflict diamonds to an investigation of the Statecraft of the British Coalition Government. The students displayed an impressive command of their subject, especially in dealing with questions from the audience. Having spent a number of months researching an area, the general feeling was that they valued the opportunity to discuss their work and engage with students from other departments across the country. Thanks go to the UK Political Studies Association and the Department of Politics and Public Policy for their support of the event, which we hope can become a regular event.
